Many customers have reported being told something along the lines of what I was: "Items in the warehouse may take a little longer to ship as they must be transferred to our fulfillment facility". This wouldn't explain case where no titles shipped for a week or more for some people, unless the warehouse is in Mongolia. Given their ZIP experiences, some have suggested that the warehouse is actually Future Shop :)

Personally, it seems hard to believe that any advantages in having some inventory in a perhaps less costly secondary location would be outweighed by the trouble and delay caused by moving things back and forth, etc. I could, of course, be wrong. But even if the warehouse does make sense, exist and holds the rest of the inventory claimed, this just raises more interesting questions. Here are a few, although I'm sure more will come to mind when I get a free minute or two.

• How long does it take for titles to move from the warehouse to fulfillment. There really should be no excuse for anything more than a single day.
• What triggers a title moving from the warehouse to fulfillment? When a user puts it in his queue? When it nears the top of a queue? Only when it is needed to actually send out to someone?
• If a DVD is needed to send to a customer, and their top choice is at the warehouse, will the warehouse title be transferred to fulfillment, with the shipment delayed until it arrives? Or will a lower priority title from fulfillment ship instead, with the warehouse title arriving later? This would mean the customer would have to wait for his next DVD return to get it shipped out, and in the meantime it would be vulnerable to someone else's request for it getting filled instead.
